An elegant coupe that is a testament to classic German luxury and build quality.

  • Final production year of the flagship C126 gen S coupe styled by Sacco
  • Top of the line 560 powered by the M117 5.5L V8 with 238 hp and 287 lb ft of torque
  • Mechanically refreshed with a recent engine overhaul and many major service items

OVERVIEW

The 80s and 90s distinctly represent an era of German automotive prowess. An era where Mercedes defined the luxury segment. The W126 S-Class was the flagship sedan with class-leading comfort, safety and technology. The SEC featured all that but in a sleek and stylish pillarless coupe form. Later models like this ’91 560 also came with revised (bumpers, sides, wheels), suspension upgrades, several new features and the most desirable range-topping 5.5L V8.

This 1991 560 SEC is in stock condition with just over 100k KM and comes with maintenance records dating back to 2017. The owner reports it was stored for a number of years before being recommissioned. The vehicle is a Japanese spec example and has remained with its owner for several years.

These kinds of classic luxury coupes are becoming more and more sought after. After all, the 560SEC was famously engineered with no compromises. That’s why it retailed at $82,900 back in 1991, nearly $181,000 in today’s dollars. Making these modern classics an absolute bargain.

GOOD TO KNOW

As detailed in the Inspection Report, no major points were found.

Since then, the owner has undertaken a major engine overhaul service for this 560SEC. This included engine head machining, replacing gaskets (head, valve, rear crank etc.) and numerous other wear and tear items. In addition, the fuel distributor pump was replaced with a used (refurbished) unit, and the fuel injectors were cleaned. The A/C compressor and various hoses were also replaced.

Full details of this major service and past maintenance can be found in the invoices provided in the History Report.

HISTORY & DISCLOSURE

The NoLemons team has obtained a 2011 Autocheck Japan report to provide as much clarity and transparency as possible on the history of the 560SEC. Please find a summary of our findings below:Milage: Total mileage is unknown and cannot be verified. The report indicates the odometer was previously at 159,189 KM in 2011 when it was imported from Japan. The owner reports that when purchasing the vehicle in 2014 the odometer was approximately 65,000 KM.  Our understanding is the car odometer (milage) was rolled back sometime between 2012-2014. Please note we believe this occurred before the current owner purchased the vehicle in 2014.

Paint: The current vehicle paint (black) is not original. The vehicle was likely repainted sometime between 2012-2014.Overall Condition: It is likely that the car was restored between 2012-2014 by a previous seller. It is also evident that several repairs have been undertaken by previous seller(s). Records of the current owner’s maintenance and repair are already documented  in the History ReportRefer to page 15 of the History Report. All knowledge of this Vehicle’s History has been reported in the provided documents. Please note the 2011 Autocheck Report shows the vehicle history but does not reflect the current condition of the car.

*Please review the photos for all the findings.
